liberty weeps
August 11th and 12th, 2017 will be forever remembered as two days of infamy that brought terror, shame, evil and murder to the streets of Charlottesville, Virginia. I send my condolences to the family and friends of Heather Heyer, murdered as she bravely stood up against bigotry and hatred, and whose words on her Facebook read “If you are not outraged, you are not paying attention.”
I also send condolences to the families and friends of Lt. H. Jay Cullen, Trooper Berke M.M. Bates, who also died as a result of the evil that visited their city.
May they all rest in peace and may Liberty’s flame act as beacon of hope.

Lessons from the Great Masters Day 14 – 20.7.15 matted and framed
In July 2015 working my way through Tony Smibert and Joyce Townsend’s Tate Watercolour Manual: Lessons from the Great Masters, this lesson was titled Painting onto coloured paper: watercolour heightened with gouache. The book was introduced to me by my friend the inspiring artist and teacher Debi Riley from Perth Australia. Thanks again Debi 🙂

A girl can never have enough shoes however old she is matted and framed.
I painted this after the birth of our first granddaughter who is twenty three months old today and excited to meet her cousin who is now six days old. Two of the most beautiful little girls in the world – do I sound like a proud grandpa? – it’s allowed I think 🙂
