Weekly Photo Challenge: (Extra)ordinary

Extraordinary ib

On our visit this morning to the Sunday market in the medieval French village of Issigiac this abandoned pump in a square off the beaten track seemed to mirror Cheri’s lone sink on Alcatraz in its (extra)ordinariness. I too could sense the passage of time and wondered about the many stories of all those who had stood beneath that tree and pumped their water in the early morning October air.

Studio 365: Day 291

A visit this morning to market day in Issigeac, a medieval village that dates back to Roman times, followed by an afternoon tasting the wines of Chateau Lestevenie located in Gageac et Rouilliac.   It’s been a tough day!

Studio 365: Day 290

Today has been a day of reflection in which I saw a painting at every sparkling moment:

Our last stop at the Cave of Lascaux deserves a post of its own when I return home.
It was definitely the highlight of the day.

Autumn colors continue to dazzle in the Dordogne with visits today to Sarlat, Domme, La-Roque Gageac, Les Jardins de Marqueyssac and Beynac. Here are just a few photos from a spectacular day, with more to come when we return home.

What could be better than the perfect day in London, beginning with a latte on Waterloo Station before walking to Tate Britain, with so much to enjoy on the way: the London Eye, Westminster Bridge, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Churchill’s statue, Richard Coeur de Lion in Old Palace Yard, and then along Millbank to my favourite gallery and a return to the Turners’ and so many other memorable British artists. Come and join me and enjoy the day…

Studio 365: Day 286

Day 286 ii

From the wonderful October colors on Kitsilano Beach yesterday to the glorious Autumn English countryside today, all in just a few hours…Yes, it’s good to be back.

Day 286 iii

From Bean to Brew in Peru

Did you know that today is National Coffee Day? I certainly didn’t, particularly as everyday is National Coffee Day in our house. But it really is as I discovered on my Twitter feed this morning when I saw the hatch tag #nationalcoffeeday.

And so to celebrate this important day in the life of my fellow coffee drinkers everywhere I thought I would look back to our coffee plantation visit on Day 5 of our trek to Machu Picchu with Mountain Lodges of Peru in 2013, a day on which we all enjoyed a memorable cup of strong aromatic coffee having witnessed its journey from bean to cup…

…and a great way to respond to Kristin who asked us to show “a change in progress” for this week’s Photo Challenge: Change

Day 250 iii

Beautiful British Columbia indeed.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Today Was Another Good Day

As promised, our second unforgettable day visiting Antelope Canyon in Arizona. After the Lower Canyon with Ken’s Tours, posted on Friday for Cheri’s Weekly Photo Challenge, we didn’t think it could get any more spectacular. Well how wrong we were as you will see in today’s Mesh Gallery of photos from Upper Antelope Canyon originally posted on April 20th. I hope you enjoy them if you are visiting thechangingpalette for the first time, and for my wonderful followers I hope you agree that they are worthy of the re-post.

Antelope Canyon, Arizona – Part II

This was a never-to-be-forgotten day made even more special by our Navajo guide, Kim, from Adventurous Antelope Canyon Tours; thanks again Kim. The feather from a great horned owl found on our visit to Owl Canyon with her became the treasure of our trip and now takes pride of place in my studio back home.
