National Flag Day 🇨🇦

Fifty five years ago today Canada’s maple leaf flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. As we look back to Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Olympics this month what better way to celebrate our National Flag Day than with the maple leaves around the Olympic Cauldron in Jack Poole Plaza. 🇨🇦

On the 10th Anniversary of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics a lookback, with Sarah McLachlan carrying the Olympic Torch, street hockey, drumming on the newspaper boxes, and always thousands in the streets celebrating day and night.  What a ride it was!

“Be not indifferent”

On Holocaust Memorial Day heartbreaking images and words from the memorial ceremony held today at the gates of the Auschwitz concentration camp on this 75th anniversary of its liberation.

“Be not indifferent” are three of those powerful words that were spoken as we remember all those children, women and men who were murdered and who are in all of our thoughts today.

The Eternal Flame in the Hall of Remembrance at Yad Vashem, Jerusalem,
which I drew on July 11th 1967.

The photos were taken from the BBC transmission.
