On this one year anniversary of the WHO declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic, today in Canada our first National Day of Observance commemorates all whom we have so tragically lost to the virus and recognizes and thanks, as we do every day, our frontline and healthcare heroes. This flag at half mast in Vanier Park is just one of many thousands across the country that flies today to bring us all together on this day of remembrance. π¨π¦

Fifty five years ago today Canada’s maple leaf flag was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. As we look back to Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Olympics this month what better way to celebrate our National Flag DayΒ than with the maple leaves around the Olympic Cauldron in Jack Poole Plaza. π¨π¦
