Studio 365: Day 291

A visit this morning to market day in Issigeac, a medieval village that dates back to Roman times, followed by an afternoon tasting the wines of Chateau Lestevenie located in Gageac et Rouilliac.   It’s been a tough day!

Studio 365: Day 290

The photos for the video were taken during our memorable visit to Vimy in October 2012.  The poppies, waving in the breeze at the end of the video, were from our garden. The bees were just visiting.

I commemorated this day last year with the post: Remembering the Battle of Vimy Ridge

Studio 365: Day 11

Day 11 vii

I fell in love with Paris on my first visit there as a young boy in August 1962. I remember as if it were yesterday sitting and drawing in the Tuileries Garden after being inspired by all the French Impressionist paintings I had just seen in the Jeu de Paume, a stone’s throw away.

In the studio today my thoughts are very much with all the citizens of this great city as they walk in their millions for remembrance, for freedom, for tolerance, for love, for mankind, for the future.  In the words of Francois Hollande, Paris truly is “the capital of the world today.”

During this time he painted the gardens, with their wheat fields, olives groves, irises and sunflowers, all of which he could see from his bedroom window.
