snowy no longer

I think you all know that Kitsilano Beach here in Vancouver is my photographic muse having shared so many images with you at different times of the year. You may remember those snowy Kits days last December, which I featured in backdrop to a life, and the snowy willow painting that followed.

This morning the sun was back all too briefly as the rain will be returning tomorrow, but once again Kitsilano shone in the morning sunshine, and that snow-covered willow is snowy no longer. Here are a few more views from my morning walk today for you to enjoy.

Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

Since our memorable 2012 visit to the Canadian National Memorial in Vimy I have posted many of my photographs from that moving visit over the past four years together with my video Lest We Forget made from those photos. To commemorate today’s solemn celebrations I am posting links to two of the posts for those of you who might wish to revisit them and welcome those of my new followers who might be interested in seeing them for the first time.

Remembering The Battle of Vimy Ridge: April 9-12 1917

Remembrance Day 2013

Lest we forget.

from darkness to light

This beautiful bouquet of tulips was painted with light in the darkness of the studio at the end of the day on Tuesday bringing a moment of respite, which I hope it does for you today.

Wish: Planet 50:50

Wishing the amazing women in my life a happy International Women’s Day.

The title of the post is taken from the UN Women’s website, which states the theme for International Women’s Day this year focuses on “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”. I encourage you to read their full statement here.

As I looked with great pride and much love at my wife, daughter and granddaughter today there is so much to wish for. The UN Women’s statement is a good place to start.

WPC: The Road Taken: Part 2

With the popularity of The Road Taken, my submission to this week’s Photo Challenge from Krista, here are a few more images of the breathtaking Arizona Landscape that is Glen Canyon taken on a memorable late afternoon in April 2015.
