Studio 365: Day 35

Day 35 ii

Hippocrates II

I thought I would post this variation of yesterday’s image, captured with light painting photography in the studio using an iPhone flashlight, together with a view of the set up. The additional light was added in Photoshop Elements using an airbrush and the text duplicated and then inverted to create the mirrored effect.

“Nowadays I try to put serenity into my pictures and re-work them as long as I have not succeeded”

Henri Matisse, from and Interview with Charles Estienne in 1909

Day 19iii

Well it is Monday after all, for those of you who enjoyed my Monday Bouquets last year. As many of you know Henri Matisse is an artist hero of mine and quotations from one of my favourite books, Matisse on Art, will make great additions to my Monday posts; from Monday Bouquets to Matisse Mondays, from time to time. What could be better? Now, back to work!

Studio Light Painting I

Night and Day: this first-time light painting photograph in the shadowy studio at night is so much more dramatic than its day-time counterpart. Progress is definitely being made in the light painting department I think.  I hope you agree.

The Monday Bouquet: December 15

My second attempt at Light Painting photography for the Monday Bouquet and with such a sparkling crystal vase also for this week’s Photo Challenge: Twinkle

Nighttime is the Lighttime

Nighttime viii

Dear Diary…Early this morning, around 3:30 am, in response to Ben Huberman’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Nighttime, I decided to attempt my first Light Painting photography.

Subject: Sunflowers on the kitchen deck featured this week in From Seed To Sky.

Requirements:

  1. My Pentax Kr DSLR
  2. Infra red wireless shutter release (newly bought, and so worth it)
  3. Tripod
  4. Confused cat (not expected)
  5. Disturbed wife (also not expected)

Result…well, you can decide comparing the same sunflowers in this morning’s sunshine…

Plan: Early night after the final season opener of Boardwalk Empire.
