On a day when the Pacific Spirit Park sparkled in its beauty at every turn I would like to remember my amazing brother-in-law, a veteran, who left us today surrounded by his wonderful family after 98 years of a life that inspired all of us who knew him. We will miss him but his spirit will never leave us.

in this together
Written in chalk beneath a rainbow on the entrance to Tatlow Park here in Vancouver these words are perhaps the perfect way to recognize this 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. We are indeed all in this together.
Since this is also National Park Week, and following my look back to Antelope Canyon, I thought I would re-post our visit to magnificent Bryce Canyon five years ago today together with the painting that it inspired.
Studio 365: Day 112 Â Â April 22, 2015
From the wonder and awe of the magic of Antelope Canyon to the breathtaking majesty of the vistas of Bryce Canyon. It has been another unforgettable day and once again I will let the pictures do all the talking…
…the final shot at the end of a perfect day.

A lucky capture on the cliff side path between Caswell Bay and Langland Bay yesterday visiting South Wales again for the first time in over 65 years. The little dog kindly posed for us when we caught them up.

the day after
Familiar to many of you, my favourite muse, Kitsilano Beach after yesterday’s snow.

April Travels Part III: Colorado National Monument
Above the Colorado city of Grand Junction is the magnificent Colorado National Monument one of the jewels of the US National Parks with which we were unfamiliar. The Rim Rock Drive that winds along the edge of the canyons must be one of the great drives of the world, so put it on your bucket list and prepare to be in awe.
Dramatic Tuscany
Whether in glorious colour or monochrome Tuscany takes your breath away.
Italy Day Six: Volterra and San Gimignano
After Siena the Tuscan landscape en route to the ancient hilltop town of Volterra.
   Â
  Â
Two of the best reasons for visiting Volterra can be found in the Pinacoteca e Museo Civico.
Rosso Fiorentino. Deposition 1521
Luca Signorelli, Annunciazione, 1491
Volterra is also renowned as Italy’s capital of alabaster and visiting the Rossi Alabaster gallery and workshop on Piazza della Pescheria it is clear why.
  Â
 Â
One particular piece caught my eye as it’s beauty seemed to reflect those wonderful faces in the Fiorentino Deposition.
    Â
After Volterra it was on to San Gimignano.
The towers of this iconic hilltop town dominate the horizon for miles around.
     Â
The surrounding Tuscan landscape shimmering in the evening light.
