family separation

reunited at last

The reunions of Mino and his brother Erick with their mother Keldy Mabel Gonzales Brebe, and Bryan Chavez with his mother Sandra Ortiz, all separated so cruelly in the fall of 2017, are moments for which there are no words but simply feelings of joy and relief for them all.

So many more families must be reunited but these happy reunions are moments for celebration.

a little good news

Some good news yesterday that four of the children separated from their parents at the US border in 2017, one of whom was only three, will be reunited with their parents this week. Sadly the parents of far too many have yet to be located.

the last leaf

666+186 Day LIII: the final leaf, the last of the final 9 leaves that end a journey that began on October 22nd last year. I have decided to keep the dates together with the marks from each day that indicate the number of leaves drawn that day, as part of the final piece. Look for the completed work tomorrow. Posting this on Canada’s Family Day is an opportunity to remember the separated children and look forward to the day when those responsible will be held accountable. #families belong together.

20 new leaves, an executive order and two heroes

666+132…in progress – Day L with 20 new leaves on a day that gives hope to the children separated from their parents at the US border with the signing of an Executive Order by President Biden establishing an interagency task force for their reunification. His strong words today, including “ work to undo the moral and national shame of the previous administration,” are very welcome.

Today we also remember two heroes, Captain Sir Tom Moore and Capital Police Office Brian Sicknick, may they both rest in peace.

home stretch

666+80…entering the home stretch, with the hope that home is coming soon for the children so cruelly separated from their parents at the US border by the criminal administration that in three days will be relegated to the dustbin of history.

How reassuring to learn from the interview between Jacob Soboroff and Alicia Menendez on MSNBC in which Ron Klain the Chief of Staff to President-elect Biden states that in the first 10 days he will…

“…fulfill his promises to restore dignity to our immigration system and our border policies, and start the difficult but critical work of reuniting families separated at the border.”

Watch the interview at @jacobsoboroff and make sure to read his book “Separated.”
