couture beyond

This is the final weekend of a stunning exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery:
Guo Pei: Couture Beyond.

The exhibit was first presented by the Savannah College of Art and Design in September 2017 and we have been fortunate enough to have had it here in Vancouver since last October. Here are a few photos I took on my iPhone yesterday that hardly do justice to the glorious artistic vision of Guo Pei, China’s preeminent couturière. You can read more about the exhibition here at the Vancouver Art Gallery web site.

ticket to ride

The Bright Nights Christmas Train ride in Stanley Park, Vancouver is always one of the highlights of the Xmas season and all tickets sold go to support the BC Burn Fund, which partners every year with the Vancouver Park Board to present a truly magical event as you can see.

Special thanks to the BC Professional Fire Fighters and all the volunteer groups who spend countless hours making it all possible.

two more magical mornings

Vanier Park, Vancouver – Tuesday 4.12.18

Fishermans’ Wharf, False Creek, Vancouver – Wednesday 5.12.18

Nothing like a little magic with which to start the week. This morning’s sunrise illuminated my favourite willow tree on Kitsilano Beach that has featured in so many posts on thechangingpalette over the past few years. Definitely another one worthy of sharing.

Happy Monday

Antigua

El Arco de Santa Catalina, Antigua, Guatemala

Sending Happy Thanksgiving wishes to family and friends across the border having just returned from Guatemala, about which more to come.

Barcelona Beautiful

Those of you who follow me on Instagram will know that we have just returned from a truly memorable visit to the beautiful and historic city of Barcelona.

For my changingpalette followers here are some of our favourite moments, from Antoni Gaudi’s stunning Sagrada Familia cathedral, to his La Pedrera rooftop sculptures and his mosaics in Park Guell, to the glorious paintings of Joan Miro at the Fundacio Joan Miro in Parc de Montjuic, to dinner at the iconic 4Gats restaurant and before leaving the celebrations in the streets on Spain’s National holiday on October 12th.

As you watch the slideshow enjoy the guitar of Edgar Moffatt who treated us to his art as we waited in line for the opening of The Prado in Madrid. (Our Madrid visit to follow).
