my new favourite of the year
Kitsilano in the snow #2, matted and framed
The evolution of this painting began a year ago after a heavy snowfall here in Vancouver, which I posted about in backdrop to a life: part 2. On January 8th it became my second painting of the year as you will have seen in my post second of the year.
Now, a year later and after my most recent post backdrop to a life revisited, it seemed time to get to work and put a mat and frame around it.
This week’s finial photo challenge of the year asks us…
“To celebrate the end of the year, share the most meaningful photo you’ve taken in 2017.”
Without a doubt this was one of my favourite and most meaningful photos of the year,
which I posted for International Women’s Day last March.
Take a look back at the UN Women’s web site and use this opportunity to read again their statement “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”.

A year ago almost to the day you may remember I posted backdrop to a life part 1 and part 2. This was in response to the Discover Challenge from the Daily Post: Finding Your Place, in which we are asked by Cheri to bring a place alive that means something to you.

Yesterday the snow returned to Vancouver and whilst not as heavy as last year my muse, Kitsilano Beach, became a winter wonderland once again.

Today the snow stopped, the sun shone and camera in hand how could I not venture out and capture it all.

Happy Holidays everyone.

After a week exploring the beauty that is Tuscany day nine of our Italian holiday was a wonderful cooking class with Serena in her lovely home in Gambassi Terme. I had been looking forward to this all week, particularly as we were enjoying Tiramisu desserts everywhere we went. Now we were going to learn how to make it together with so many other delicious dishes. If anything justifies the term transformation it’s converting mascarpone cheese, eggs, biscotti, sugar and vinsanto wine into a dessert to die for.

The class was a great success as you can see and lunch with the products of our hard labour! was simply delicious. Grazie molto to Serena of Serena Tuscan Holidays who made it all possible, both for the cooking class and for arranging the lovely country home where we stayed with our dear friends who shared the adventure with us. A special thank you to them also for such happy memories.
