Anthony Bourdain Day

Fondly remembering Anthony Bourdain who would have been 63 today. I’m reading his collection of essays “The Nasty Bits” at the moment, which was published by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2006. One prescient passage seemed to leap from the page as I read it. I think you’ll see why.

from the essay, VIVA MEXICO! VIVA ECUADOR!

dogwood in the window

How much is that dogwood in the window?

British Columbia’s floral emblem in full and glorious bloom outside our window.

With apologies to the late Bob Merrill, lyricist, composer and screenwriter, who wrote the song from my childhood, “How much is that doggie in the window?” in 1952.

remembering dad

Remembering my late father on Father’s Day with this lovely painting of his. I remember the day he proudly brought it home from his evening art class. Thanks Dad, and Happy Father’s Day to all the lucky dads and grandads out there of which I’m perhaps the luckiest ❤️
